A Valance is a decorative top treatment that can be board mounted or installed on decorative hardware or sash rod. Valances were first beloved during the Baroque period and although their shapes and fabric choices have grown in the years since, they have never gone out of style.

There is an array of different genre's that can be utilized when designing a valance for a space; casual, contemporary, traditional or transitional, each is very dependent on the fabric selection. There are also endless design approaches; Box Pleated, Charleston, Buttons, Bells, Pleated, Flat or Inverted Pleat. Valances can also be fabricated/installed to look functional; Relaxed, Faux Roman, Stagecoach or London.
